Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
